Temp to perm term time only 38 weeks per year
One of Manchester’s leading Universities is recruiting a Facilities Operative. The Facilities Operative will be working as part of the Facilities team to provide a professional, customer focused, compliant and cost effective FM service to support core University objectives including: compliance inspections and maintenance, portering, waste management and parcel duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintenance & Repairs
  :
  Carry out minor fix-ups like unblocking sinks, patching walls, changing light bulbs, or fixing furniture using basic tools.
• Porterage & Setup
  :
  Move heavy furniture, deliver mail or parcels across campus, and set up lecture halls for exams or conferences. Driving equipment in a university van across campus.
• Compliance & Safety
  :
  Conduct routine checks on fire alarms, report structural defects, and ensure compliance with health and safety (COSHH) rules.
• General Upkeep
  :
  Assist with external grounds care, litter picking, pressure washing, and waste or recycling disposal.
• Security & Access
  :
  Help open or lock campus buildings and sign in external contractors.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience
  :
  Background in a customer-facing, hands-on estates or cleaning environment.
• Physical Fitness
  :
  Capable of heavy lifting and manual handling tasks.
• Driving Licence
  : requires a full, UK driving licence to operate university vehicles between sites.
• Soft Skills
  :
  Good communication, reliability, and a proactive "can-do" attitude.
