Aspire People are currently recruiting for a Caretaker to join a welcoming and well-maintained secondary school in Central Manchester.

The Role

As a School Caretaker, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, security and general upkeep of the school premises. You will work closely with the school's leadership and site team to ensure the building and grounds are maintained to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities
  • Opening and securing the school premises
  • Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs
  • Ensuring the school site is clean, safe and well maintained
  • Monitoring and maintaining the security of the building and grounds
  • Completing routine checks and reporting any issues
  • Assisting with deliveries, contractors and visitors
  • Supporting with setting up and moving furniture and equipment when required
  • Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed
  • Responding promptly to maintenance and site-related issues
  • Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the school site
About You
  • Previous experience in a caretaker, premises, maintenance or facilities role
  • Experience working within a school or similar environment is desirable
  • A practical and hands-on approach to maintenance
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • A reliable, professional and proactive attitude
  • The ability to work around staff and students in a busy secondary school environment
Safeguarding & Compliance

As this role involves working within a secondary school, the successful candidate will be required to complete the relevant DBS and safeguarding checks.

Applicants will also be required to provide suitable references covering their recent employment history, ideally covering the last few years, as part of our compliance process.
