Research Portfolio Manager
Full‑time permanent contract (37.5 hours per week) at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, located in Manchester, United Kingdom.
We are looking to appoint a Research Portfolio Manager to join the Haematology Clinical Research Delivery Team. The team supports a variety of trials including CAR‑T, early‑phase research and commercial studies. The post holder will lead a large team of trial coordination staff and manage the haematology trials portfolio to the highest standard.
Responsibilities- Initiate and deliver new trials efficiently and on time, aligning with new NIHR targets.
- Manage the ongoing portfolio and assist with feasibility management.
- Act as point of contact for internal and external colleagues, liaising with sponsors, monitors and the wider research community.
- Support senior colleagues with contract negotiations and financial management.
- Provide leadership and direct line management to trial coordination staff, including workload allocation, troubleshooting, recruitment, induction and training.
- Maintain knowledge of key research policies and procedures and demonstrate experience of commercial/non‑commercial study set‑up, R‑PEAK/EDGE, costings via the NIHR ICT system, initial and amendment contracting and general trial organisation.
- Enthusiastic, motivated and experienced in trial coordination.
- Demonstrable experience of commercial and non‑commercial study set‑up.
- Working knowledge of R‑PEAK/EDGE, costings, contract management and trial organisation.
- Strong communication skills and proven team‑leading ability.
- Opportunities for managerial career in trial coordination and portfolio management.
- Training, coaching and improvement projects across the R&I division.
- Engagement in a dynamic, supportive research team with exposure to a variety of trials.
