A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Civic and Ceremonial Team at Manchester City Council.

The Civic and Ceremonial Team manage all aspects of protocol and procedure and provide direct support to the Lord Mayor as first citizen of the City of Manchester. This includes oversight and delivery of major civic and special events of significant reputational importance to the City.

You will organise a wide range of civic and ceremonial events, varying in scale. You will be responsible for the development and delivery of appropriate events to be undertaken by the Lord Mayor which will enhance the public image of the council and demonstrate civic leadership.

You will also provide support to the Lord Mayor, including some diary management and admin support to the office.

About the Candidate
  • Proven experience in a similar role including demonstrable event management experience.
  • Highly motivated individual.
  • Excellent customer care with the drive to exceed expectations.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and anticipate, negotiate and solve problems to ensure the successful running of events.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work comfortably with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent IT skills, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Excellent planning skills to map the achievement of a desired outcome through a series of actions and milestones with ability to implement monitoring techniques to capture progress made.
  • Occasional evening and weekend working will be a feature of this job so if you are interested please ensure that you have the ability to work flexibly as required.
