Ford Credit's Manchester Business Centre is looking for an exceptional Financial Underwriting Team Leader to inspire and guide a high-performing team. Responsibilities

What You'll Do & The Impact You'll Make:

Lead Operational Excellence:
  • Oversee the review and approval of new customer proposals, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
  • Serve as the primary point of escalation for complex queries from dealers and sales teams, resolving issues with expertise.
  • Strategically manage team resources to consistently meet and exceed departmental objectives.
  • Champion quality, identifying opportunities for improvement and sharing best practices across all daily, weekly, and monthly performance metrics.
Empower & Develop Your Team:
  • Nurture and coach team members to achieve their full potential, supporting their underwriting levels and professional growth.
  • Take ownership of all aspects of people management, including performance, development needs, absence, and onboarding, fostering a supportive and high-achieving environment.
  • Conduct regular 1-2-1s, check-ins, and team meetings that truly engage and motivate.
  • Recognize and celebrate individual and team achievements, building a positive and rewarding atmosphere.
Drive Performance & Strategic Growth:
  • Set clear, inspiring team and individual goals that align with broader departmental objectives.
  • Utilize performance data (TCE, Underwriting reviews, PPRM Stats) to identify key insights and drive targeted improvements.
  • Ensure timely and impactful appraisals, interim reviews, and continuous coaching to enhance capabilities.
  • Actively pursue your own professional development, including achieving higher underwriting levels, setting an example for your team.
Ensure Robust Controls & Continuous Improvement:
  • Maintain the highest standards of compliance and operational integrity, ensuring all control measures, procedures, and approval authorities are meticulously followed.
  • Actively participate in the evolution of our processes, contributing to working instruction updates, quality control, and change management initiatives.
  • Champion a culture of innovation, encouraging process improvement suggestions from your team and supporting their implementation.
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally to resolve issues and optimize workflows, providing support and sharing resources as needed.
