AboutThe Role
The Safeguarding Manager is responsible for the operational oversight and coordination of safeguarding practice across Further Education, Higher Education, and Apprenticeship provision. Working closely with the Head of Safeguarding, the role acts as point of contact for Safeguarding practice, advice and guidance, ensuring that safeguarding concerns are identified promptly, assessed appropriately, and managed effectively across learning, employer, and workplace environments, in line with statutory guidance and organisational policy.
DutiesAnd Responsibilities
- Provide operational oversight of safeguarding practice across FE, HE and Apprenticeship provision, ensuring concerns are identified, risk assessed and managed effectively
- Oversee safeguarding casework, including complex and high risk cases, ensuring timely decision making, robust record keeping and appropriate escalation
- Offer expert advice and professional challenge to Designated Safeguarding Leads, tutors, assessors and employer facing teams
- Support safeguarding in employer based settings, advising on responsibilities within partnerships and contracts
- Monitor trends and emerging risks across provision types, contributing to audits, quality assurance and continuous improvement activity
- Develop and deliver safeguarding training to staff, promoting a culture of vigilance, early intervention and consistent practice
- Build effective relationships with Local Authorities, Police and multi agency partners, representing the organisation at strategy meetings and case conferences
- Deputise for the Head of Safeguarding where required
