If you’re the kind of person who brings calm to complexity, loves getting standards right, and believes housing should always be delivered with dignity and care then this could be for you.
I’m working with a community-based housing association in the North West (newly formed following a merger of two long-established organisations) to appoint an Operations Manager.
This is a role for someone who likes things done properly with high standards, strong governance, steady leadership, without the corporate noise.
The organisation provides housing and support primarily for older and more vulnerable residents, so the ability to operate with calm judgement, professionalism and care is essential.
You’ll work closely with the Chief Executive, manage the team (paid and unpaid), and oversee day-to-day delivery across housing management, contractor performance, compliance and service quality.
The role will suit someone who:- Is calm under pressure and confident owning decisions
- Understands housing management and compliance inside-out
- Can lead people with empathy and authority
- Keeps records, audit trails and performance reporting in great shape
- Handles safeguarding and serious incidents appropriately and consistently
- Housing operations and tenancy management
- Repairs, maintenance, contractor management and void turnaround
- Regulatory compliance, record keeping and audit readiness
- KPI monitoring and reporting to senior leadership/board
- Complaints handling, tenant engagement and service standards
- Deputising for the Chief Executive when required
- Strong housing/property management experience and portfolio responsibility
- Knowledge of housing legislation and property compliance
- Confident communicator, organised operator, capable team leader
- Comfortable in a community-led environment
You do not need to be from a faith background, however the client predominantly serves Jewish communities, so cultural awareness and respect matter. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds. What we’re looking for is values alignment, professionalism, and a willingness to learn in a faith-informed, community-led environment.
