An exciting opportunity has arisen in the role of Contracts Manager within the Contracts Team, which is part of the wider Contracts, Income & Costing function at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.
The Contracts Team is a well‑established department with strong internal and external relationships. The contract manager will support the Head of Contracts in ensuring that clinical and corporate departments understand the organisation's contractual obligations and will line‑manage the Contracts Team to ensure day‑to‑day tasks are completed effectively and on time.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing service‑level agreement documentation for Provider‑Provider (Trust to Trust) services and Independent Sector provider sub‑contracts.
- Supporting the implementation of the NHS Cost Recovery policy for overseas visitors.
- Overseeing the delegation and support of Senior Contracts Officers and Contracts Officers to meet commissioner contract requirements and invoicing duties.
- Ensuring accurate, efficient, and confidential completion of all contractual work, often under tight deadlines.
- Communicating effectively with all disciplines of staff internally and externally to the Trust.

Qualifications- Degree level and/or equivalent knowledge, training and experience in the NHS or a similar healthcare setting.
- Degree is finance or business‑based.
- Evidence of personal development in a contracting/finance or similar environment.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in an NHS or similar healthcare setting with an understanding of contracts and service‑level agreements.
- Previous experience supervising a small team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams) and other IT packages.
- Excellent mathematical skills and accuracy in data handling.
- Experience liaising with commissioning/contracting colleagues and managing day‑to‑day contract issues.
- Knowledge of NHS payment schemes, including high‑cost drugs and devices.
- Understanding of NHS standard contracts and service‑level agreements.
- Ability to use Excel for data manipulation and analysis.
- Understanding of the Overseas Visitors Charging regulations.
The role requires a DBS check. The cost of the DBS application will be deducted from salary within the first three months of employment if the candidate is successful.
Salary£49,387 to £56,515 per annum, pro rata.
