Accounting Manager
Vertex Associates are proud to be partnering with a leading UK residential property management company in hiring a Service Charge Accounts Manager on a permanent basis. This is a hybrid position with 3 days in the office and 2 days from home in their Manchester city centre office.
Duties and Responsibilities- Lead and manage a team of finance professionals, setting goals, monitoring performance, and supporting their development
- Oversee daily team operations, ensuring workloads are effectively planned, prioritised, and delivered on time
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation, review and approval of service charge accounts and related financial reports
- Maintain high standards of data accuracy, quality control, and compliance with financial regulations and industry best practice
- Manage statutory reporting, tax related requirements (e.g. VAT), and liaise with external stakeholders such as auditors
- Monitor team performance against KPIs, identify issues, and implement solutions to improve efficiency and outcomes
- Produce and oversee internal and external reporting, providing clear insights to support decision making
- Drive continuous improvement by enhancing processes, systems, and automation to increase efficiency and consistency
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and support client interactions where needed
- Ensure all communications and outputs are professional, client-focused, and uphold the organisation’s reputation
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or qualified by experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in finance or accountancy, ideally within service charge accounting, property management, or practice.
- Proven experience leading and managing a team, including performance management and development
- Strong background in preparing and reviewing service charge accounts, statutory accounts, and financial reporting
- Experience working to strict deadlines, KPIs, and service delivery standards in a fast-paced environment
- Confident working with a range of stakeholders, including clients, auditors, and senior internal teams
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, bookkeeping, and relevant legislation (including property-related regulations)
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines accurately
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and the ability to identify and improve processes
- Effective communicator with a client-focused approach and ability to build strong working relationships
