Key duties & responsibilities:

• Lead the review of significant advisory engagements, ensuring quality, consistency and adherence to risk management procedures.
• Take overall responsibility for managing a portfolio of indirect tax clients, acting as a trusted advisor and senior point of contact.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, identifying opportunities to add value and expand service offerings.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across indirect tax compliance and advisory processes, enhancing efficiency and client experience.
• Oversee the allocation and delivery of work across the team, managing resource planning and ensuring deadlines and utilisation targets are met.
• Provide technical leadership on complex VAT and indirect tax matters, supporting the team in resolving issues and delivering robust solutions.
• Lead the review of compliance and advisory work, ensuring quality, consistency and adherence to risk management procedures.
• Take ownership of significant advisory projects and client engagements, delivering commercially focused advice and practical recommendations.
• Support clients with VAT structuring, transactions, risk mitigation, HMRC enquiries and complex technical matters.
• Monitor developments in legislation, HMRC policy and case law, assessing the impact on clients and proactively identifying advisory opportunities.
• Work closely with Directors and Partners to develop and execute business development plans and strategic growth initiatives.
• Lead the preparation of proposals, tenders and presentations, contributing to the winning of new business and strengthening client relationships.
• Represent the firm at client meetings, networking events, seminars and industry forums, promoting the firm's indirect tax capabilities.
• Identify opportunities for cross-selling and collaborating with other service lines across the business.
• Lead, mentor and develop Managers, Assistant Managers and junior team members, fostering technical excellence and supporting career progression.
• Support the leadership team in achieving financial, operational and strategic objectives for the service line.
