Head of Group Financial Reporting | 12 month FTC | £100,000-£120,000 + 10% bonus | Manchester or London based (2 days in office) | FTSE listed business
A Head of Group Financial Reporting is required to work for a FTSE listed Media business on a 12 month FTC (London or Manchester based with flexible working available). This is an opportunity to work for an international group that is undergoing a corporate restructure; they are looking for someone to cover this role whilst the business-as-usual team are seconded to projects.
The role reports to the Group Financial Controller and takes ownership for the consolidation and technical accounting for the group. You will lead a team of 2 direct reports and 4 indirect reports. The role will involve extensive project work including IFRS 18 and IFRS 19 implementation.
Responsibilities include:- Preparation of technical accounting papers covering discontinued operations and disposal accounting as the group progresses through its restructure
- Leading the transition and implementation of new accounting standards, including IFRS 18 and IFRS 19
- Managing the relationship with external auditors and overseeing the audit process across the group
- Translating complex technical and accounting matters into clear, simple language for non-finance stakeholders, including audit committee reporting
- Coaching and developing a team that includes several less experienced members, providing hands‑on support through a demanding 12-18 month period
- Reviewing and overseeing group consolidation across 300+ entities on a multicurrency basis
- Balancing BAU reporting (including year-end and half-year processes) alongside project deliverables, while senior team members are seconded elsewhere
- Exceptionally strong people management skills, with the ability to lead a team through a group audit
- Technically strong, with the ability to lead on technical accounting matters within a listed group
- Post-qualified experience in industry, or a Senior Manager from practice
- Listed company experience (UK listed experience preferred)
- Experience working with global consolidation systems
