The Families First Partnership Programme is a once in a generation chance to reshape Children’s Social Care alongside council colleagues, education, police, health voluntary, faith, community groups and most importantly our residents, to change and improve our offer of help and protection. Families First Partnership Programme is enabling us to do just that! Through this work, we will create a system that delivers better experiences, stronger relationships, and lasting change where families feel supported, professionals feel empowered, and children thrive.

This is our moment to make it happen. Let’s do it together.

Timely and effective family help is central to Families First, and we are implementing our district family help team model. Working within Oldham Council’s Family Help service, you will be an outstanding Team Manager with strong knowledge of good practice in work with children and families, experience of developing and delivering multi‑agency family help practice and proven skills in leading a team of workers to deliver high‑quality targeted help for children and families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To be a member of the multi‑agency district leadership team which develops and implements the district plan for children and young people.
  • To implement and further develop the agreed multi‑agency model for family help delivery to children and families in the district, and to co‑ordinate the team’s support for the operation of this.
  • To drive team performance in the district, providing support and challenge to team members and partners in order to develop family help practice and achieve positive outcomes for children and families.
  • To contribute to development of the service plan, and oversee delivery of the team’s contribution, including regular monitoring of progress and ensuring action to address performance issues.
  • To provide leadership to the team, modelling the corporate values and the Children’s Social Care and Early Help approach to practice, and ensuring a focus on the delivery of positive outcomes for children and families.
Key Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need as a minimum:

  • Substantial experience of leading, motivating and managing teams, including the establishment of a positive performance culture.
  • Substantial experience of assessing and analysing the needs of children and families and implementing programmes of support to address these.
  • Extensive experience of working within a service delivering support to families who have complex lives which may include mental health, offending, substance misuse, domestic abuse and may be resistant to service involvement.
About Us:
