We’d all like amazing work to do, and real work/life balance. That’s waiting for you right here. Supply Chain and Logistics is the engine room that gets thousands of products from farms and factories, through the business and to millions of customers every day. We plan around everything from barbecue weekends to Sunday roasts, supporting those who want oven‑ready cauliflower cheese and those who prefer to make it from scratch.
Insight and data are everything. But so is judgement — when there’s an issue or ambiguity anywhere, we’re often the first to spot it. There’s a big transformation underway. It calls for people who champion change, bring others with them, and collaborate and communicate. Because those people can go a very long way here.
Joining Sainsbury’s as a Regional Engineering Manager offers the opportunity to lead and drive fleet and Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) operations, ensuring compliance, safety, and cost efficiency across multiple sites.
With a focus on innovation and continuous improvement, this role provides a platform for developing strong internal and external networks, managing complex engineering projects, and influencing positive change within a dynamic logistics environment.
As part of a collaborative and forward‑thinking team, you will have the chance to make impactful decisions, foster relationships with key stakeholders, and contribute to the overall success of our supply chain and logistics operations.
What you’ll doYou will play a crucial role in overseeing fleet compliance, uptime, and costs across multiple sites, both in‑house and with third‑party logistics providers. Your responsibilities will include investigating fleet incidents, ensuring root cause analysis is conducted, managing SLAs with external suppliers, and monitoring fleet and Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) uptime to ensure compliance with operational standards.
Additionally, you will lead engineering projects, develop cost‑effective solutions, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive engineering standards and efficiency improvements within the organisation. Your role will be pivotal in maintaining safe and efficient fleet operations while driving sustainable practises and compliance with legislative requirements.
Who you areYou are a seasoned professional with extensive knowledge of fleet, Mechanical Handling Equipment, and compliance legislation, coupled with significant experience in logistics operations and engineering practises.
Your sharp commercial focus, ability to identify cost savings and efficiencies, and proven track record in managing end‑to‑end projects demonstrate your capability to drive fleet and mechanical handling equipment operations to meet safety, legal, and operational standards.
With your resilience, positive mindset, and strong stakeholder management skills, you excel in making critical decisions, influencing at senior levels, and implementing engineering solutions that optimise operational performance and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
