JobOverview
The Digital Media Associate has broad responsibilities in support of promoting and protecting the Georgetown University brand on a daily basis through digital communities on top tier social media channels and the website. The Digital Media Associate reports to the Director, Digital Engagement and Social Media and collaborates extensively with the Creative Services team and Office of Strategic Communications as a whole to strategically promote and protect the University.
Responsibilities- monitoring and responding to online communities
- writing marketing and social media copy that maximizes views and optimizes SEO
- analyzing data related to online brand conversation and results of individual digital campaigns
- development of content for digital channels and overseeing projects related to social media
The Digital Media Associate will work with key stakeholders in the Office of Strategic Communications and across the university to ensure that Georgetown’s online channels have consistent and appropriate brand messaging.
The Digital Media Associate will be required to work flexible hours and respond in a timely and professional manner to inquiries from internal and external constituents. The employee regularly exercises discretion and judgment in his/her work by serving as an institutional liaison to audiences that rely on the daily operations of the Office of Strategic Communications. This independent judgment is particularly critical to ensuring an effective University response in the event of any unforeseen campus emergency or event.

The Digital Media Associate reports to the Director, Digital Engagement and Social Media and works very closely with the entire Office of Strategic Communications to manage communications to protect and promote Georgetown University on a daily basis. The position will also coordinate with colleagues across the university, including Campus/School/Center/Institute/Program/Initiative communications/events staff and other university leaders, to support effective communications. This role will also work with student content creators in the “Georgetown Stories” Program.
Given the diverse needs of the position and interactions the person in this position requires a positive and flexible attitude, strong oral and written communications skills, careful judgment and discretion with respect to strategic, confidential material, flexibility, efficiency and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for a wide variety of assignments.
- Academic Level: Bachelor’s Degree
- A minimum of one to three years working in a digital marketing or social media related role required.
- Experience must include interacting with online communities and monitoring social media.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and best practices required.
- Strong interpersonal skills required to work collaboratively across many departments.
- Understanding of digital measurement analytics platforms preferred.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), and enthusiasm for graphic design, preferred.
