PR Specialist

We are looking for a proactive PR Specialist to protect and strengthen our reputation through effective media and public-facing communications. You'll lead day-to-day media relations, build strong journalist relationships, respond to enquiries, pitch stories and create engaging content that supports our organisational priorities. About us We are a social housing landlord and one of the largest housing providers in the region with over 22,000 social and affordable homes, mainly in the Bradford district. Duties include:

Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with journalists, editors and relevant influencers to secure positive and balanced media coverage. Act as a first point of contact for media enquiries, proactively pitching stories, arranging interviews and briefings, and responding accurately and confidently to requests. Write and distribute high-quality press releases, statements, reactive lines and media briefing materials, ensuring consistency with agreed messages and tone of voice.

Identify and broker opportunities for features, interviews, speaking engagements, round tables, thought leadership pieces and opinion articles. Support the preparation for and management of reputational issues and incidents, working with the Policy and External Affairs Manager, Head of Communications and Marketing and colleagues across the organisation. Maintain the central statement book, ensuring content is accurate, up to date and ready for use where required.

Prepare briefing notes, key messages and scripts for spokespeople to support media and public-facing engagement. Plan and deliver creative, goal-driven PR and communications campaigns to increase reach, engagement and impact. Lead the coordination of award submissions. Support stakeholder engagement activity led by the Policy and External Affairs Manager, including events, visits and meetings. Monitor media coverage and public sentiment, providing regular reports and insight on performance, risks and opportunities.

Track and evaluate the impact of PR activity, using data and insight to inform future activity and continuously improve effectiveness. Requirements Demonstrable experience in a public relations, media or communications role, leading day-to-day PR activity and securing positive media coverage.

Experience of creating high-quality PR content, including press releases, statements, briefings and digital content, to tight deadlines. Experience working in the social housing sector, public sector or another regulated or public-interest environment (highly desirable)

Experience of supporting reputational issues or reactive communications, working calmly and collaboratively in fast-moving situations. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to write and speak clearly, confidently and persuasively to engage, inform and influence a wide range of audiences. Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines and maintain high standards of quality. 2 days per week in the office - BD17 7BN
