The Greater Manchester Strategy commits us to ensuring that homelessness in Greater Manchester is prevented wherever possible and ending the need for rough sleeping, by:
- Minimising the number of children in bed and breakfast accommodation beyond the statutory limit (6 weeks).
- There will be a sustainable reduction in the number of families in unsuitable temporary accommodation in Greater Manchester overall.
- Continuing the A Bed Every Night scheme to ensure that rough sleeping is a rare, brief and non-recurring experience.
With a new Integrated Settlement providing Greater Manchester with new flexibility and influence over the next few years, we have the opportunity to turn this vision into reality.
Greater Manchester has made significant progress in reducing rough sleeping since 2017, through targeted investment, deep collaboration with our partners and a commitment to ensuring that there is an off-the-streets accommodation offer for anyone who needs it.

Your RoleThis role will provide support to deliver a range of high profile and important programmes of work that aim to prevent homelessness and other forms of disadvantage and inequality in Greater Manchester. You will be part of a wider team working collectively to ensure that Greater Manchester is a thriving city region where everyone can live a good life.
The role will provide support across all of our homelessness programmes and policy work, working with programme leads to support with governance and reporting, audit and financial processes, stakeholder engagement, and wider project activity. Through delivery of programmes, we identify learning for policy makers both locally and nationally.
You’ll also provide flexible policy and admin support for our wider work across Homelessness and Migration, including the development and delivery of the GM Homelessness Prevention Strategy.
This is a meaningful role; you will be playing a part in demonstrably reducing and preventing homelessness and helping to ensure that Greater Manchester is a place where everyone can thrive.
