As our Philanthropy Consultant, you'll help secure major support for some of the National Trust's most exciting projects. You'll build strong relationships with major donors, charitable trusts and foundations, helping connect them with work that protects nature, cares for historic places and creates more opportunities for people to enjoy them.
Working with colleagues from across the Trust, you'll bring projects to life through inspiring funding proposals and help grow philanthropy across the region. From Castlefield Viaduct to Gibside Hall, Gawthorpe Hall, Wentworth Castle Gardens and the Farne Islands, you'll help turn ambitious ideas into reality and support our ambition to end unequal access to nature, beauty and history.
Salary: £44,499–£49,452 per annum (pro rata to 30 hours per week), dependant on experience.
What it's like to work hereYou'll be part of our Specialist Delivery Team, working alongside curators, archaeologists, fellow fundraising specialists and may more. Together you'll support projects that protect nature, care for historic places and create brilliant experiences for everyone who visits them. It's a friendly and supportive team where people share their knowledge and work together to make the biggest difference.
This role covers the North, so you'll be based at your nearest National Trust regional office. You'll split your time between home, the office and visiting the places you're supporting, spending around 40–60% of your time on site – and we are happy to discuss this balance t know, that every week is different, giving you the chance to build relationships, see projects first‑hand and experience the impact of your work.
Whatyou'll be doing
You'll build relationships with major donors, charitable trusts and foundations, helping secure the funding that makes some of our most ambitious projects possible. Working closely with colleagues across the Trust, you'll spot opportunities for fundraising, shape strong cases for support and help develop fundraising plans that bring projects to life.
You'll manage your own portfolio of supporters, building long‑term relationships and showing people the difference their support is making. Additionally you’ll have plenty of opportunities to share your fundraising expertise with colleagues across the region, helping them identify opportunities and build confidence in philanthropy so that, together, we can achieve even more.
Who we're looking forWe're looking for someone who enjoys building relationships and helping people become part of something meaningful. You'll have:
- Experience securing significant funding from major donors, charitable trusts, foundations or other high‑value funders.
- A track record of delivering successful fundraising plans and achieving challenging income targets.
- The ability to write clear, persuasive cases for support that inspire people to give.
- Strong relationship‑building skills and the confidence to work with a wide range of people, both inside and outside the Trust.
- Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage several projects and priorities at the same time.
- A collaborative approach, sharing ideas, supporting colleagues and working together to achieve the best outcomes.
