Role Overview
As an Advocate for veganism with The Vegan Society, you will communicate with people in your local community to share the benefits of a vegan lifestyle. You will engage in a range of outreach tasks such as staffing stalls, giving talks at employee events, writing to MPs or local newspapers, and lobbying for increased vegan options in businesses. Messages may differ each month based on campaign priorities, including the Live Vegan for Less campaign.
Trainingand Support
You will receive a welcome induction from your local Organiser and ongoing training per your development needs. The Organiser will also provide updates on group actions and facilitate online meetings to plan activities and deliver training.
Time CommitmentWe ask Advocates to engage in a minimum of four to six actions per year, with additional online meetings as required. The workload is flexible, and you may choose how much or how little you participate.
Experience and Skills Required- Ability to stay motivated to achieve outcomes
- Good email etiquette and timely responses
- Commitment to veganism and The Vegan Society mission
- Calmness when confronting differing opinions
- Persuasive communication abilities
- Confidence communicating with diverse backgrounds
- Experience campaigning
- Experience interacting with the public through customer/public service
