Overview
This post will be based at the Manchester Vascular Centre, Manchester Royal Infirmary and is suitable for either vascular surgery trainees at Specialty Trainee level or equivalent seeking 'out of programme experience' in full-time research for award of Doctor of Philosophy - 3-year full time.
Main duties of the jobThe project comprises:
- Workstream 1: Prospective cohort study of CLTI patients assessing quality of life, hospitalisation, palliative care input, and survival.
- Workstream 2: Qualitative interviews with patients, carers, and clinicians to explore experiences of anticipatory and end-of-life care, identifying barriers and facilitators to improved pathways.
- Workstream 3: Retrospective analysis of linked registry and hospital datasets to investigate survival, cause of death, and health resource utilisation in CLTI.
These work streams are achievable within a 3-year tenure, with Manchester Vascular Centre providing a large and diverse patient population. Alongside on-call commitments (1:15 middle grade rota), time and resources will be ring-fenced for research delivery.
