Position: Ward Sister / Charge Nurse - Ward L2
Location: Salford

Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Nurse to join our friendly and supportive Acute Medicine team on Ward L2, specialising in gastroenterology and hepatology nursing. Ward L2 is a 24-bed unit caring for patients with hepato‑biliary conditions, IBS, and substance misuse issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patient care needs and develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care.
  • Act as the named nurse for a defined group of patients while also supporting the care of all patients within the unit.
  • Provide daily clinical and managerial leadership to nursing and support staff, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based care.
  • Support the Ward/Unit Manager in the effective running of the department and deputise in their absence.
  • Motivate and inspire staff to achieve high standards of care and support the delivery of the Trust’s objectives.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Band 5 nursing registration (or equivalent).
  • Strong interest in acute gastroenterology nursing.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to perform well in a fast‑paced setting.
  • Flexible working accepted, including weekends and bank holidays.
Professional Development & Support

We provide a comprehensive orientation programme, including exposure to endoscopy. You will be supported by a multidisciplinary team comprising our Practice Development Team, Supervisory Ward Sisters, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, hepato‑biliary specialist nurses, a dedicated Discharge Coordinator and 12 specialist Consultants. A supernumerary period is provided to help you develop the skills and competencies needed to care for acutely ill patients.
