Sister​/Charge Nurse

We are seeking a Band 6 Registered Nurse to join our enthusiastic, friendly and well‑supported team. This is a permanent, full‑time position, including weekend shifts.

The Surgical Ambulatory Care Receiving Unit (SACRU) is an ACP‑led same‑day emergency care assessment unit at Wythenshawe Hospital. It was created to provide an enhanced patient‑focused service and reduce GP referrals into the ED, facilitate accelerated ward discharges and reduce unnecessary general surgical admissions.

You will work alongside our ACPs to maintain clinical efficiency, patient safety and a supportive environment for both staff and patients.

• Assess, plan, evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of patient care in a caring, compassionate, and sensitive manner.
• Work closely with the multi‑disciplinary team and contribute to the clinical governance process.
• Act as a mentor/preceptor to junior staff and take responsibility for pre‑registration students.
• Take delegated responsibility for the management of the clinical team and maintain high standards of quality.
• Coordinate the unit and manage patient flow within the unit.
• Assist the unit Band 7 with management of nursing staff on SACRU.
• Liaise closely with the ACPs, bed managers and other departments to ensure effective communication.

• Registered Nurse, Band 6 with a proven clinical background at Band 5 or 6.
• Excellent clinical knowledge and adept communication skills.
• Motivated and able to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Previous experience in a similar emergency or ambulatory care setting preferred.
