Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Band 5 Haematology Nurse will provide high‑quality patient care within both the inpatient and day‑case haematology settings. The post‑holder will develop their clinical skills and knowledge across the specialty and will be supported to become competent in caring for acutely unwell patients, administering complex chemotherapy regimens, and using relevant scheduling and documentation systems such as Bookwise.

You will contribute to the smooth and efficient running of the day‑case unit and inpatient areas by working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure safe practice, effective communication, and a positive patient experience. As your confidence and competence grow, you will be expected to take responsibility for coordinating patient care activities during your shifts.

The Band 5 nurse will support the ward or unit manager and senior nursing team by maintaining high standards of care in line with the NMC and local policies, participating in clinical audits, adhering to evidence‑based practice, and engaging in supervision and teaching opportunities. You will be encouraged to contribute to quality improvement initiatives to support the ongoing development of the service.

You will provide day‑to‑day clinical support to colleagues and act as a role model in delivering compassionate, patient‑centred, evidence‑based care. This role offers opportunities for professional development within a specialist and supportive haematology environment.

A Haematology Nurse provides specialist, patient‑centred care within a busy and well‑established haematology service.

Key duties include delivering and monitoring treatments such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and blood transfusions, carrying out thorough patient assessments, and responding promptly to clinical changes. The role involves supporting patients through diagnostic procedures, offering clear education on conditions and treatment plans, and promoting safe infection‑prevention practices. Working as part of Salford Royal’s multidisciplinary team, the postholder will help coordinate seamless care across inpatient and outpatient settings, maintain high‑quality clinical documentation, and contribute to ongoing service development to ensure the delivery of safe, compassionate, and high‑standard care.

Please note that post registration experience is required for this role.
