Field based role across Cheshire – satellite office based at Lower Nabb Farm, Wildboarclough, Macclesfield, SK11 0BB.

This is a hands‑on role where you’ll help manage our nature reserves and other wild places across Cheshire, with a particular focus on developing our work within the Pennine Fringe core area. You’ll work as part of a knowledgeable and experienced team to manage and maintain our nature reserves in the east of Cheshire, delivering a range of project‑based outputs including habitat creation, restoration and management, overseeing infrastructure access & infrastructure projects, and supporting volunteer activities.

You will need to be forward‑thinking and able to identify opportunities to grow our impact within the Pennine Fringe core area both within and outside of our current nature reserve boundaries.

We are looking for somebody with proven experience in practical land management, species and habitat knowledge, and the confidence to lead. Being based at our Lower Nabb Farm site within the Pennine Fringe core area you will need to be comfortable with working independently and as part of a team. You will also need excellent communication skills in order to build strong, positive relationships with farmers, land managers and other local stakeholders.

You’ll work collaboratively to explore opportunities for habitat enhancement, nature‑friendly land management and landscape‑scale conservation beyond our own estate.

Working under our Reserves and Land Manager you will be part of a mission‑driven team that values collaboration, initiative and shared responsibility.

What you’ll bring
  • Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience in conservation or land management
  • Solid knowledge of UK habitats and priority species
  • Confidence using tools, and leading volunteers
  • Experience of independent management of contracts and contractors
  • Relevant vocational qualifications (e.g. chainsaw, pesticides)
  • A proactive, solution‑focused mindset

At Cheshire Wildlife Trust we embrace agile working with a focus on supporting you to achieve your objectives alongside a healthy work‑life balance. We operate a hybrid working policy with most staff working at least part of the week from home and/or out on site.

You may be required to carry out a DBS check for this role. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK. Sorry, we are unable to offer sponsorship for this position.
