Registered Veterinary Nurse – Didsbury About the Role

A veterinary practice is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join a growing small animal team in Didsbury, Manchester
.

This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week
, with shifts scheduled between 8:15am and 7:00pm
. The weekend commitment is limited to 1 in 5 Saturday mornings from 8:30am–1:00pm
.

The role offers plenty of clinical variety, including nurse-led clinics, Schedule 3 procedures where appropriate and general first-opinion theatre work
.

Salary:
Competitive salary DOE (from £27,000 - £30,000)

Location:
Didsbury, Manchester

Schedule: 37.5 hours per week; shifts between 8:15am–7:00pm; 1 in 5 Saturday mornings

About the Practice

The practice is a modern, purpose-designed small animal clinic equipped with state-of-the-art veterinary facilities and equipment
.

Patient welfare is central to the clinical approach, with the practice operating according to Fear Free principles designed to reduce stress and create a more positive experience for pets during veterinary visits.

The working environment is supportive and team-focused, with opportunities for RVNs to develop their clinical skills and take an active role in patient care.

Continued professional development is encouraged, with a minimum annual CPD budget of £500 alongside opportunities to broaden clinical experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering high-quality nursing care to small animal patients
  • Running nurse-led consultations and clinics
  • Undertaking Schedule 3 procedures where appropriate
  • Supporting and participating in general first-opinion theatre work
  • Monitoring patients throughout procedures and recovery
  • Supporting patient admissions and discharges
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records
  • Communicating effectively with pet owners
  • Applying Fear Free principles to patient handling and care
  • Working collaboratively with Veterinary Surgeons and the wider nursing team
  • Maintaining high standards of clinical hygiene and patient welfare
  • Participating in the 1 in 5 Saturday morning rota
Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse with a genuine passion for small animal nursing and excellent patient care.

You should be comfortable working across nurse clinics, theatre and general first-opinion nursing duties, with an enthusiasm for developing your clinical skills.

Strong communication and organisational abilities are important, alongside the ability to work effectively within a supportive veterinary team.

An interest in Fear Free veterinary care and patient-centred nursing would be particularly well suited to the practice's clinical approach.
