Overview
Applications are invited for a full-time Research Technician to join the Hayter lab within the Centre for Biological Timing at the University of Manchester and support a Wellcome Trust funded project interrogating the daily rhythms of neuronal pathways responsible for controlling cardiac function through autonomic signalling to understand how the circadian system shapes peripheral tissue physiology.
The candidate will provide technical and administrative support to the research activities within the lab. This will involve assisting with a range of project-specific research activities including performing long term ex-vivo electrophysiology experiments, assisting in and performing stereotaxic surgery, management of colonies of transgenic mice, supporting the running of in-vivo models, and standard laboratory techniques including PCR, histology and immunohistochemistry. The role will also entail managing laboratory equipment and consumables stock;
supporting students and ensuring health and safety and ethics compliance within the laboratory. The ideal candidate will have extensive previous relevant lab experience in neuronal circuitry mapping and assessment of ex-vivo daily rhythms.
