About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised, and highly committed laboratory‑based Research Technician to join the Nanotherapeutics Lab as part of a newly funded Cancer Research UK (CRUK) research programme. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting‑edge work at the interface of neuro‑oncology, nanomedicine, and translational cancer research, within a programme with clear clinical relevance and long‑term ambition.
The Research Technician will provide essential technical support across a range of project‑specific research activities, including cell culture (primary cultures, stem cells, and cancer cell lines), tissue processing and histology, immunohistochemistry and immunoassays (e.g. ELISA), and microscopy techniques such as fluorescence and confocal imaging. The role also involves supporting in‑vivo animal studies, including routine monitoring and the performance of procedures in accordance with relevant licences and regulations.
The successful candidate will join the Nanotherapeutics Lab, a diverse and highly collaborative multidisciplinary team based within the Division of Neuroscience at the University of Manchester. The lab is closely embedded within the Centre for Nanotechnology in Medicine, the Geoffrey Jefferson Brain Research Centre, and the Manchester Cancer Research Centre, providing access to a unique ecosystem of expertise in neuroscience, cancer biology, imaging, nanotechnology, and translational research.

This CRUK‑funded position is full‑time (1.0 FTE) for 2 years in the first instance, with funding and the possibility in place to extend for up to 6 years, subject to progress.
