Research Technician – Human Cellular Immunology
We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as a Research Technician in Human Cellular Immunology within the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health at The University of Manchester. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support cutting‑edge research within the Worboys Lab contributing to innovative work in cellular immunology. You will play a key role in enabling high‑quality research in a dynamic and inclusive laboratory environment.
Responsibilities- Providing technical research support to laboratory members, including assisting with experimental work and data analysis.
- Managing laboratory operations, including equipment, consumables, and safe working practices.
- Supporting the analysis and presentation of data for publications and presentations.
- Supervising and advising staff and students on laboratory techniques, protocols, and health & safety requirements.
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, ethical standards, and contributing to sustainable laboratory practices.

Essential Criteria- A degree in a relevant biological science subject (or equivalent laboratory experience).
- Experience in biological laboratory techniques, including cell culture, flow cytometry and microscopy.
- Strong understanding of laboratory health and safety regulations, risk assessments and standard procedures.
- Ability to organise and manage workloads independently and effectively.
- Good analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
- Experience in immunology or cell biology research.
- Knowledge of super‑resolution microscopy (e.g., single molecule localisation microscopy).
- Experience preparing SOPs and COSHH risk assessments.
- Familiarity with scientific data analysis software.
- Experience training or supporting students or staff in a lab setting.
