Research Associate in -Temperature Ceramic Coatings at University

Position

Research Associate in High-Temperature Ceramic Coatings at University of Manchester (Full time, on site).

• Conduct research in line with project milestones and objectives.
• Publish research findings in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Collaborate effectively with industrial and academic partners.

Essential Criteria:

• PhD (or near completion) in Materials Science or closely related field.
• Strong background in processing, testing, characterisation, and/or modelling of ceramic coatings or high‑temperature materials.
• In‑depth knowledge of coatings and ceramics for high‑temperature applications.
• Research knowledge, and preferably hands‑on experience of cryogenic measurements of transport or optical properties of atomically thin 2D crystals within the last six years.

Desirable Criteria:

• Experience with thermal or environmental barrier coatings.
• Practical knowledge in ceramic powder and coating processing techniques.
• Hands‑on expertise in advanced characterisation techniques.
