Position: Research Assistant (NanoOmics Lab)

We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as a Research Assistant
. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a multidisciplinary project addressing the unmet clinical need for minimally invasive blood biomarkers for neurodegenerative diseases and neuro-oncology. You will join the Nano Omics Lab at the Centre for Nanotechnology in Medicine and use nanoparticle-enabled technology to investigate the relationship between brain pathology and the blood proteome.

You will be responsible for:
  • Undertake research (preparing, setting up, conducting and recording the outcome of experiments and field work, the development of questionnaires and conducting surveys)
  • Contribute to the production of research reports and publications
  • Contribute to the planning of research projects
  • Analyse and interpret the results of own research and generate original ideas based on outcomes
  • Actively participate as a member of a research team

About You

We encourage applications from individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. You should demonstrate:

Essential Criteria
  • Degree or equivalent in relevant subject
  • Current or prior holder of a Procedure Individual Licence (PIL) for in vivo work
  • Demonstrable expertise in histology techniques (tissue staining and sectioning)
  • Demonstrable expertise in proteomics techniques (gel electrophoresis, ELISA) and mass spectrometry data analysis tools (Proteome Discoverer, Progenesis, Scaffold)
  • Experience working with animal models of glioblastoma
