Senior Research Assistant; Quantitive

Manchester Metropolitan University is seeking a Senior Research Assistant (Quantitative) to join our Institute of Sport and contribute to an exciting research partnership with Nuffield Health
.

This role will provide quantitative research support across collaborative health and wellbeing projects, using robust data analysis and statistical modelling to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions. You will have the opportunity to work with colleagues across both organisations and contribute to research that can support evidence-based decision making and the development of new approaches to health and wellbeing.

You will work closely with research colleagues and partners, taking responsibility for quantitative data analysis where appropriate and helping to communicate research findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

We are looking for someone with a strong background in quantitative research and advanced statistical analysis.

You will have:

• Experience undertaking advanced data analysis and statistical modelling using R.
• The ability to analyse and interpret complex data and communicate findings clearly.
• Experience exploring and visualising data to tell a meaningful story to a range of audiences.
• Experience contributing to research publications and communicating findings through written reports, presentations or academic/professional journals.
• Experience of working independently and collaboratively to plan and prioritise research activity and deliver agreed objectives.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative to develop practical solutions.
• A postgraduate degree or equivalent qualification in statistics, public health or a related health science discipline.

Experience of
clinical trial analysis, large-scale complex health datasets, or health and wellbeing intervention research would be particularly valuable. Experience of writing research proposals and submitting ethics applications is also desirable.

• Undertake robust statistical analysis of research data to assess the effectiveness of interventions.
• Explore, analyse and visualise data using R.
• Translate complex findings into clear and meaningful messages for different audiences.
• Support front-line teams in making data-informed decisions.
• Report on research progress to the Manchester Metropolitan University and Nuffield Health partnership group.
• Contribute to research reports, publications and presentations.
• Work collaboratively with academic colleagues and research partners to develop research activity.
• Help support students and other members of the research team where appropriate.
• Contribute to the wider research culture within the Institute of Sport.
