About the Role
A care home in Altrincham is seeking an experienced Chef to plan and deliver nutritious, high-quality meals for residents. You will be responsible for menu planning, food preparation, stock control, and maintaining high standards of food hygiene and safety.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong organisational skills, creativity, and the ability to lead and motivate a small kitchen team.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and prepare daily menus that meet residents’ nutritional needs and preferences
Produce meals that are appetising, visually appealing, and cost-effective
Monitor food stock levels and order supplies as required
Maintain accurate records of food orders and inventory
Ensure all food is stored, prepared, and served safely and hygienically
Train and supervise kitchen staff
Implement and maintain health and safety procedures, including food handling standards
Maintain a clean and organised kitchen, including regular deep cleaning
Build positive relationships with residents and respond to feedback

Skills and Experience

Proven experience as a Chef, ideally within a care home, healthcare, or hospitality setting
Strong cooking skills with knowledge of various techniques
Understanding of nutrition and dietary requirements
Knowledge of food safety and health & safety regulations
Ability to manage time effectively and work under pressure
Experience supervising or training kitchen staff
Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends and bank holidays Qualifications

Food Hygiene Level 2 (willing to work towards higher qualification)
First Aid Certified
NVQ Level 2/3 in Food Preparation/Catering Benefits
