Position Overview

We are recruiting an Assistant Manager for our shop in Yardley, West Midlands. The role is permanent, full‑time, with varied shifts over five days a week, usually including at least one weekend shift. Full‑time candidates must be flexible and available throughout the week, including weekends.

Pay & Benefits

The salary offered for this position is £32,648 - £35,306 per annum on a 43‑hour contract.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the shop manager to run an efficient shop and provide a great service to customers.
  • Be responsible for developing your team of retail assistants through coaching, mentoring, and providing feedback.
  • Be accountable for the shop in the absence of the shop manager and ensure customers are looked after, deliveries are processed quickly, and shop routines are completed to maintain a safe, clean, tidy shop.
  • Motivate and guide your team to control operational costs, including shrinkage, waste, and payroll.
  • Support the shop manager with recruitment and induction of new team members.
Requirements
  • A friendly, positive, hard‑working approach to work.
  • Good interpersonal skills, able to build strong relationships.
  • Trustworthy and reliable, dependable for the small team and customers.
  • Some experience as a manager, team leader, or supervisor.
  • Completion of a Basic DBS check (England/Wales) or Disclosure Scotland check if hired.
