- Manchester Stage Door Keeper Reporting to the Head of Stage Door, the Stage Door Keeper plays an important role in the overall operation of the Palace & Opera House theatres. The first point of contact for those entering the building, the Stage Door Keeper will be an ambassador for the venues, offering a warm welcome and efficiently helping everyone they encounter.
Responsible for security and monitoring the fire alarm, intruder alarm and CCTV systems, the Stage Door Keeper will be proactive, following procedures and acting on any problems that arise. Communication is a key part of this role.
Key Responsibilities To be the first point of contact for all visitors to the theatre, offer a warm welcome and be committed to creating a relaxed and happy environment. To ensure all staff, contractors, 3rd parties and visitors all sign in and out of the building. To be responsible for opening and closing the premises in accordance with times due to the needs of the business.
To ensure all relevant fire exits are unchained at the start of the day. To ensure all doors into the building are secure before leaving the premises. To control & maintain the security of the keys for the building. To receive all incoming telephone calls via the main switchboard and to efficiently and professionally answer, transfer, take messages, and deal with enquiries in a pleasant and helpful manner.
To maintain the security of the building by issuing the relevant passes to visitors and contractors. To monitor the CCTV system, reporting any anomalies to the venue management. To monitor the security alarm system, reporting any anomalies to the venue management. To ensure all post, parcels and deliveries are directed to the correct departments. To monitor and control the intruder and fire alarm systems at both venues and initiate all emergency procedures accordingly.
To be responsible for the management of items of lost property. To implement and comply with all Health and Safety policy, maintaining the safest possible environment for your colleagues, visiting company and patrons. Any other reasonable duties as requested by your line manager and the senior management team. Your Skills, Qualities, and Experience. We can give experience of any desirable criteria but may also use them to decide between candidates for this role. Essential:
Excellent customer service skills. Excellent communication skills. A positive attitude. A willing and proactive approach. Strong administrative skills with an understanding of IT programmes (e.g. Word, Outlook and Excel). Reliable and punctual. Ability to work as part of a team, and on own initiative. The ability to work in a busy environment and remain calm under pressure. An understanding of the importance of security.
High standards of presentation. Attention to detail. Passion for theatre. Desirable:
Experience working in a busy reception or similar environment. Experience monitoring security/ fire alarms and CCTV. Current First Aid at Work Certificate. About Us
