Security Engineer – Sudlows
Sudlows, Manchester, England, United Kingdom.
OverviewThe Security Engineer sits within Enterprise Services, involved in installation and commissioning of a range of security systems. The role requires a strong understanding of CCTV, Access Control, Intercom and associated integration with other systems. A solid knowledge of IP networking and structured cabling is essential.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities- Installation and commissioning of Access Control and Intercom Systems.
- Maintenance and fault calls on Access Control and Intercom Systems.
- Installation and commissioning of CCTV Systems.
- Maintenance and fault calls on CCTV Systems.
- Installation and testing of Structured Cabling Systems.
- Interpreting and understanding proposal documents, schematics and drawings.
- Accurate and timely completion of all work‑related documentation including test results, commissioning information, drawings and O&M information.
- Ensure highest quality of workmanship and documentation.
- Self‑auditing own work.
- Interfacing with other systems and sub‑contractors such as Building Intelligence, Fire and Intruder alarm services, and other life safety systems.
- Maintain adherence to Sudlows health and safety standards.
- Assist in other areas of the business as required.
- Demonstrable knowledge of Access Control and Intercom installation and commissioning.
- Demonstrable knowledge of CCTV installation and commissioning.
- Demonstrable knowledge of Structured Cabling Systems.
- Previously verifiable experience working in the electronic securities sector.
- Understanding of the interfacing requirements between Access Control systems and CCTV, Building Intelligence and building life safety systems.
- Knowledge of open and closed protocol systems.
- Good working knowledge of IP networking and its relation to IP‑based security systems.
- Good knowledge of basic electrical principles such as measuring voltage and current draw.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy while completing documentation.
- Good IT competence.
- Working knowledge of current and prevalent Access Control and CCTV standards.
- Flexible approach to working location and times.
- UK Driving Licence.
- CSCS / ECS Card.
- Industry recognised training and certification in Access Control systems.
- Industry recognised training or proven experience in the design of Access Control systems.
- Industry recognised training and certification in CCTV systems.
- Industry recognised training or proven experience in the design of CCTV systems.
- High technical understanding and proven experience in IP networking, including switching, routing and wireless.
- Proven experience and/or industry recognised training with other technologies in the intelligent building space such as CCTV, Intelligent Lighting, HVAC and Energy Management.
- Experience working to NACOSS NSI Gold Standards.
