About the role
We require an experienced Energy Advice Worker to join Caritas’ Energy Saving Service, providing energy information, advice and support to households experiencing fuel poverty in deprived communities of Greater Manchester. The role aims to reduce energy consumption, lower energy bills through optimal tariffs, and improve the mental and physical health of residents by addressing the effects of fuel poverty.
Responsibilities- Deliver one‑to‑one advice, information sessions, and drop‑in surgeries in Caritas community services in Hulme, Bury, and Collyhurst.
- Conduct face‑to‑face, telephone, and online sessions, including some home visits and presentations.
- Work with interpreters (spoken language and British Sign Language) to ensure accessibility for all clients.
- Communicate effectively in one‑to‑one settings and within a team, providing excellent customer service.
- Work independently, proactively using initiative to make appropriate decisions for the best outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records and administer advice work efficiently, with good IT and administrative skills.
- Support clients in securing a Level 3 City & Guild qualification in Energy Awareness.
- Travel to other Caritas services as required.
- Experience in advice work, especially relating to energy or fuel poverty.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and proactively for positive outcomes.
- Good IT and administration skills.
- Willingness to obtain a Level 3 City & Guild qualification in Energy Awareness.
Fixed term contract until 30 June 2027. 22.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Salary: £34,234 per annum for full time. For 22.5 hours, £20,540 per annum.

- Full UK driving licence not essential, but useful.
