An exciting opportunity to work within the Homelessness Service for Manchester City Council has arisen within our Floating Support Service (FSS). We have team city‑wide, and the current vacancies are in Central and South of the city. You will be part of a large team and a wider team within homelessness. The role involves lone working in the community visiting our residents who are accommodated across Greater Manchester on our dispersed temporary accommodation framework;

This role is hybrid, with most of your time spent visiting families in their homes. There is a requirement that you will spend a minimum of 2 full days based in the office.

As a homeless support worker, you will support each family according to their individual support needs, which may involve working with other agencies for example Children’s Services or Mental Health services. You will be expected to attend meetings with the agencies involved. You will support families around managing and maintaining their own tenancy. This will involve working alongside other teams in homelessness such as the rents and housing management team and work collaboratively with the household to help them remove barriers to enable them to move from temporary accommodation to more stable settled permanent accommodation.
