We have an Advanced Social Work Post available in the Kinship Service. The post holder will support the team, work with families, develop the support offer and collaborate with partners to increase the number of children who achieve permanence through a Special Guardianship Order.
Responsibilities- Find ways to improve the service and help your team support Manchester’s Children to be safe and to thrive
- Develop the support offer to Special Guardians in Manchester
- Lead on staff awareness and best practice in this area
- Support the Kinship and Children’s Teams to achieve our joint ambition for Kinship families
- Lead on work with the ASGSF, The Family Hubs and the Fostering Hives model of support
- Undertake effective work with children, kinship families, colleagues, partner agencies and our legal department
- Contribute to tracking and increasing the number of Special Guardianship Orders granted in the Courts
- Understand the law and the family justice system, undertaking ongoing research
- Undertake Special Guardianship assessments and Support Plans, demonstrating effective analysis, decision making, planning and review
- Role model the ‘Our Manchester’ behaviours
- 2 References – where possible 3 years’ employment history
- Social Work Qualification and registration with Social Work England
This role is subject to the following:
- The post is a designated Essential Car User; therefore you must hold a full valid driving licence at all times and provide your own car for use will receive the Essential Car User Allowance.
- The post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2013). Applicants will be required to apply for a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and the information will be handled confidentially.
