Position: Supported Housing Worker

Support Independence. Sustain Tenancies. Make a difference.

At Stepping Stone Projects, we're committed to preventing homelessness, supporting independence and transforming lives.

We're looking for a compassionate and hard-working Supported Housing Worker to join our North West Care Leavers service, supporting young people to develop their skills and resilience needed to live independently and achieve positive outcomes.

About the role

Our North West Care Leavers Service provides semi-independent accommodation and tailored support to young people aged 16+ who are care leavers, with a range of support needs, in dispersed properties across the Northwest.

Our aim is to empower young people to develop the skills, confidence, and resilience needed to live independently and achieve positive outcomes. Support is delivered within dispersed community-based accommodation and focuses on areas such as independent living skills, education, training and employment, emotional wellbeing, budgeting, tenancy sustainment, safeguarding, and accessing local services.

What you'll be doing
  • Managing a caseload of young people living in dispersed accommodation: building positive, professional relationships that encourage engagement and independence.
  • Carrying out needs and risk assessments to identify strengths, challenges and the support required to help young people achieve positive outcomes.
  • Developing and delivering person-centred support plans, working with young people to set goals, track progress and prepare for independent living.
  • Providing practical, one-to-one support, including guidance on budgeting, education, training, employment, health and wellbeing.
  • Safely managing and reviewing risks, promoting safeguarding and wellbeing, and ensuring young people feel safe, supported and empowered within an Ofsted-regulated service.
  • Working collaboratively with local authorities, social workers, education providers, health professionals and other partner agencies to coordinate effective support and advocate for young people.
  • Supporting young people to successfully move on to independent accommodation, helping them develop the skills, confidence and resilience needed to sustain a home and thrive in the future.
About You

You don't need to tick every box - what's most important to us is your values, resilience, and passion for making a difference.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience working within supported housing, housing advice, youth and community work, or supporting homeless people.
  • Experience working with vulnerable young people from potentially challenging or complex backgrounds.
  • Ability to work with young people who may have complex needs and respond to conflict situations in a calm and professional manner.
  • Understanding of safeguarding issues.
  • The ability to manage a caseload and maintain accurate records and statistical information.
  • The ability to develop effective working relationships and work collaboratively with young people, colleagues, and partner agencies.

At Stepping Stone Projects, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive. When you join us, you'll become part of a passionate, supportive team dedicated to helping young people develop the skills, confidence, and resilience needed for independent living.
