This is an excellent opportunity for skilled practitioners who are passionate about making a meaningful difference for children and families while supporting an important period of service transformation.
The Role
You will hold a caseload of children and young people awaiting allocation to the Safeguarding Service, ensuring they receive proactive, high-quality social work intervention during this transitional period.
Working directly with children, families and partner agencies, you will:
Manage a caseload of children and young people, primarily subject to Child Protection Plans.
Complete statutory visits, assessments, reviews and care planning in line with legislative requirements.
Build effective relationships with children and families to improve outcomes and reduce risk.
Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to ensure timely and coordinated interventions.
Prepare cases for a smooth transition into the new Family Help Teams as part of the Families First for Children (FFP) reforms.
Maintain accurate and timely case recordings and reports.
About You
You will be:
A qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
Experienced in frontline children's social care, particularly Child Protection and Safeguarding.
Confident managing complex caseloads and making sound risk assessments.
Able to work independently while contributing positively to a supportive team environment.
Committed to achieving positive outcomes for children, young people and their families.
What We Offer
Competitive rate of £40 per hour.
Initial 6–8 month contract.
Opportunity to make an immediate impact during a key period of service development.

Meaningful work helping shape the transition to Family Help Teams under the Families First for Children reforms.
