Location: Partner Schools, Community Venues & HABS Offices, Hertfordshire
Salary: £27,254 – £32,061 FTE (pro rata, dependent on experience)
Hours: 22.5 hours per week (3 days per week, Term Time Only + 2 Weeks)
Contract: Fixed Term

HABS Strength in Mind is an independent Hertfordshire charity delivering trauma-informed mental health and family support services to children, young people and families across Broxbourne and East Herts.

We’re seeking a dedicated Family Support Worker to join our team on a three-day-per-week basis. This flexible role offers the opportunity to make a real difference by supporting families before challenges escalates into crisis.

Working across schools, community settings and family homes, you’ll provide practical guidance, emotional support and early intervention that helps improve outcomes for children and young people.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Deliver targeted early help support to children, young people and families.
  • Work with families affected by:
    • Mental health difficulties
    • Domestic abuse
    • SEND
    • School attendance issues
    • Substance misuse
    • Family conflict
  • Complete whole-family assessments.
  • Provide one-to-one support and parenting programmes.
  • Maintain accurate case records and reports.
  • Work collaboratively with schools and partner agencies.
  • Attend multi-agency meetings and safeguarding discussions.
  • Help families access the right services at the right time.
About You

You’ll be passionate about supporting families and confident working within a trauma-informed framework.

You’ll bring:

  • Experience working with children, young people and families.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and early help.
  • Experience managing your own caseload.
  • A compassionate, non-judgemental approach.
  • The ability to build trust with families from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Enhanced DBS (Children’s Workforce).
  • Ability to travel throughout Hertfordshire.
  • Access to your own transport (or the ability to meet the travel requirements of the role).
  • Commitment to safeguarding and continuous professional development.
