Parent Worker
Location:
Manchester (Wythenshawe & Central Manchester)
Pay: £14.43 per hour
Contract:
Temporary
Enhanced DBS Required and Full UK Driving Licence
We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Parent Worker to support parents and carers of children and young people who are at risk of, or have experienced, missing from home episodes.
The Role
As a Parent Worker, you will:
Build positive relationships with parents and carers experiencing challenging family situations.
Provide advice, guidance, and practical support around missing episodes, exploitation, online safety, and safeguarding.
Help parents and carers better understand the experiences and needs of their child.
Support families to improve communication, strengthen relationships, and reduce risks.
Advocate for parents and carers, ensuring their voices are heard within professional networks.
Deliver group sessions and awareness workshops for parents and carers.
Work closely with police, education, children's services, and other partner agencies.
Maintain accurate records and contribute to monitoring and reporting requirements.
About You
To be successful as a Parent Worker, you will have:
Experience working directly with parents, carers, and families.
Knowledge of safeguarding, exploitation, trafficking, and missing from home issues.
Experience supporting families through complex and sensitive situations.
Strong communication, relationship-building, advocacy, and problem-solving skills.
The ability to work independently and as part of a multi-agency team.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and case recording systems.
Desirable
Experience working with young people at risk of going missing.
A qualification in Social Work, Youth & Community Work, Family Support, or a related field.
Additional Information
Some evening, early morning, and occasional weekend working may be required.
Occasional overnight stays may be necessary for training and team events.
Regular supervision and support will be provided.
