Senior Software Engineer (AI, AWS Serverless, Type Script, Node)

Location: Manchester / Hybrid (3 times a week in the office)

Salary: Up to £75,000 (DOE)

This is an opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer to join a Tech for Good business in Manchester as they embark on an ambitious roadmap of new products and services.

You’ll work across a variety of backend and full stack projects, developing cloud-native applications while helping integrate AI-powered capabilities into real-world products.

It’s a chance to build software that has genuine positive social impact, with plenty of scope to influence technical decisions and shape future architecture.

The ideal candidate is an experienced software engineer who enjoy solving complex technical problems and is excited by the practical application of AI.

• Strong backend development experience with Type Script/Node or Python.
• AI/LLM integration or a genuine interest in building AI-powered products

• Deep experience with API design, client–server systems, and distributed architectures.
• Hands‑on experience with message queues and asynchronous system design.
• Knowledge of cloud services (AWS preferred, but Azure/GCP also fine — easy to transition).
• Solid understanding of logging, monitoring, security considerations, and modern Dev Ops practices.
• Background in enterprise-level engineering or building production‑grade systems.
• Experience with serverless (Lambda or equivalent).
• CI/CD knowledge and infrastructure‑as‑code concepts (e.g., Terraform).

Experience with concepts such as Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG), prompt engineering or deploying LLMs into production would be advantageous, but you don’t need to be an AI specialist.
