Principal Software Engineer
Job DetailsFull time, permanent – Onsite (hybrid working pattern)
Location:
Manchester, Lancashire (optionally Gloucester)
Your role will focus on technical work or a mixture of technical and people‑management responsibilities, guiding and developing junior team members. You will be part of a cross‑functional software development team, delivering and deploying critical software across a variety of business areas.
Security RequirementsAll candidates must hold SC clearance and be eligible and willing to obtain eDV clearance.
Responsibilities- Design and build software using industry best practice
- Collaborate with stakeholders and other engineers
- Contribute to the completion of milestones associated with your project
- Contribute to continuous improvement within your team
- Collaborate with peers on technical direction within your team
- Full‑stack experience across JavaScript frameworks (React, NextJS), Type Script, Python, Java
- REST API development & OpenAPI / Swagger
- Cloud services (AWS or Azure)
- Containerisation & orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Open Shift)
- Infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible)
- Relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL)
- Elasticsearch / Open Search
- Unit testing / automation and use of testing frameworks (e.g. Mocha, Jest, Cypress)
