Machine Learning/ ML Engineer, AI Engineer (Applied/Software)
We’re partnering with a fast‑growing Manchester consultancy on the lookout for a Senior MLOps Engineer to join their engineering team. This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of Open Source MLOps, helping clients turn cutting‑edge machine learning into robust, production‑ready systems that deliver real impact.
If you’re passionate about Python, excited by emerging ML tooling, and want to help shape how organisations adopt AI responsibly and effectively, this role puts you right at the centre of it.
The RoleYou’ll be embedded within a collaborative engineering squad, contributing across the full lifecycle of client delivery. Expect variety, research one week, architecture and coding the next, followed by deployment, automation, and coaching teams in modern MLOps practices.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Working directly with clients to understand problems and propose the right technical solutions
- Owning the delivery of key features: planning, architecting, coding, and occasionally delegating
- Helping run agile ceremonies: sprint planning, retrospectives, code reviews
- Pair-programming and maintaining high engineering standards across the team
- Staying ahead of the curve with new ML and MLOps tools, frameworks, and best practices
- Coaching junior engineers and supporting clients in developing their own MLOps capabilities
- Contributing to internal R&D projects, blogs, and videos as part of the company’s community-driven culture
This is a place where you’ll genuinely help shape the engineering culture and the future of the company as it scales.
Who We’re Looking For- Experience in a Data Science, Machine Learning, or Software Engineering role
- Strong Python skills and the ability to write clean, production-grade code
- Familiarity with ML frameworks (Tensor Flow, PyTorch, Keras, SKLearn)
- Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Understanding of Dev Ops concepts and infrastructure-as-code tools
- Proficiency with Git, Unix/Linux, Docker
- Excellent communication skills, with confidence in client-facing environments
- A degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related scientific discipline
- Ability to work from the Manchester office 3 days per week
- Eligibility for UK SC clearance
This consultancy is small enough that your work genuinely shapes the direction of the company, but established enough to offer stability, diverse client projects, and a supportive team who care deeply about engineering excellence.
