Software Development Manager

Salary: £38,500 - 67,000 per year

• We require strong hands‑on experience developing solutions within case management platforms such as Visual Files, SOS Connect, P4W, ShareDO, Actionstep, Proclaim, or similar.
• We require experience migrating from one case management system to another.
• We require previous experience managing or leading a software development team, or informal leadership experience such as mentoring developers, leading projects, or acting as a technical lead.
• We require an excellent understanding of legal technology and law firm workflows.
• We require experience delivering system, data, workflow, and process migrations between enterprise platforms.
• We require a solid understanding of software architecture and technical design.
• We require experience managing third‑party suppliers and technology partners.

• We lead and manage the software development function, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to agreed quality standards.
• We oversee the design, development, support, and continuous improvement of enterprise applications.
• We own the technical roadmap for case management development and integrations during the migration to a new case management system.
• We design, build, and maintain custom workflows, automations, and integrations within the new case management platform.
• We work closely with legal stakeholders and business teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• We promote best practice across software development, testing, security, and documentation.
• We drive continuous improvement in development processes and Agile delivery.
• We ensure solutions are scalable, reliable, and aligned with business objectives.

We are recruiting for an experienced Software Development Manager for a 12-month contract in Manchester, with a day rate of £700-850 inside IR35 and potential to extend. We are supporting a legal‑sector transformation project focused on moving from one case management system to a new SaaS case management platform. This is an exciting opportunity for a Lead Developer or Manager to play a key role in a major migration, working with legal teams, enterprise systems, and external technology partners.
