This role maintains responsibility for the safe and efficient turnaround of aircraft. Working in the Back of House department the Aircraft Dispatcher must maintain all relevant training including weight and balance, dangerous goods regulations and internal airline policies. This position involves greeting arriving aircraft, attaching passenger boarding bridges, facilitating disembarkation, coordinating all stakeholders involved in the turnaround, overseeing ramp operations and aircraft loading, creating and amending load sheets (including performing LMCs) and liaising with aircraft crew to facilitate a compliant departure.
The Aircraft Dispatcher must maintain an agile, proactive and diligent approach, with a safety-first mindset and a desire to strive for service excellence.
- Maintain accountability for delivering safe operations.
- Consistently deliver the highest possible level of customer service to client airlines.
- Effectively and efficiently manage aircraft turnarounds, and maintain responsibility for aircraft, passenger and staff safety and security.
- Remain accountable for on-time performance, including maintaining ownership for accountable / station delays and taking actions to prevent them. Strive to minimise any accountable / station delays and to deliver turnarounds to the specified Minimum Ground Times (MGTs).
- Ensure all staff members attending the aircraft turnaround are compliant with safety and security regulations set by the airport, airline, Prime Flight and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). This includes full adherence to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Maintain responsibility for overseeing and co‑ordinating the safe unloading / loading of aircraft.
- Utilise airline Departure Control Systems (DCS) and load control / weight and balance systems as required.
- Assist with passenger services, including facilitating boarding and disembarkation. Assist at the boarding gate where required.
- Comply with internal and external regulations regarding weight and balance, including delivering accurate and secure load sheets, and completing Last Minute Changes (LMCs) correctly.
- Supervise ramp agents and customer service agents handling the turnaround.
- Liaise with the fuel supplier and the operating crew to effect accurate loading and load sheets.
- Ensure that security items, rush / unattended bags are loaded and documented correctly.
- Present an accurate loadsheet to the Captain and conduct LMCs as required.
- Comply with baggage reconciliation and Triple A requirements.
- Operate the passenger boarding bridge in a safe manner and according to airport / Prime Flight procedure.
