We are now recruiting a Workshop Shift Supervisor at Manchester Workshop on a Permanent contract, with the potential to earn up to £70k including overtime and allowances.
Working Hours
Full time - 39.5 hours per week (excluding meal breaks) with a rotating shift pattern: week 1 and 2 06:00 - 14:24, week 3 13:24 - 22:00. You will be required to work 1 in 3 Saturdays & Sundays 06:00 - 14:24 (with weekday days off).

A bit about the role
With a fleet of over 49,000 vehicles, including traditional fuel and electric vehicles, LCVs and HGVs, maintaining our vehicles is a true team effort. Reporting to the Fleet Workshop Manager, the Shift Supervisor provides a pivotal supporting role to the Workshop management team. Responsible for leading operations across a shift in line with production planning and control requirements, you ll deploy agreed processes and staff resources to ensure the Workshop operates safely and delivers high levels of quality and efficiency.

Key responsibilities
- Lead the shift, including weekly team meetings and shift huddles.
- Contribute to remedial approaches to conduct issues while ensuring Technicians wellbeing following return from sickness absence.
- Perform a full range of inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair procedures on a range of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment when required.
- Use your own toolkit for routine maintenance and repairs on light/heavy goods vehicles.
- Access specialist tooling and shared equipment in a modern, fully equipped workshop.
- Maintain effective stock control and complete work orders and vehicle documents to meet business and legal requirements.
A bit about you
- Experienced leader: you've managed a team of vehicle technicians with excellent knowledge of H&S and the ability to communicate technical issues to the team.
- Qualified mechanic: fully qualified to an advanced level (IMI Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent). You ve got your own toolkit for standard repairs.
- Varied vehicle experience: proven Vehicle Technician experience working on a wide range of vehicles, e.g. LCV / HGV.
- Valid UK driving licence: you hold a full manual UK driving licence, preferably a C1 licence.
- High working standards: you take pride in your work and do what is necessary to make sure the job is done effectively.
- Flexible to service demands: you re able to work on a flexible shift rota and are willing to support your team where necessary.
