Overview
HGV Class 2 Skip Driver
Location:
Salford - M6 area
Pay: £14.29 per hour
Overtime: £17.86 per hour (after 45 hours)
5am starts | Monday to Friday – Saturdays as required
We are currently recruiting an experienced HGV Class 2 Skip Driver at Salford depot. This is a key role supporting waste collection and recycling operations while delivering excellent customer service.
Role OverviewBased at the Salford depot, you will operate HGV Class 2 Skip & RoRo vehicles, safely and efficiently transporting waste materials to and from customer sites and facilities. Your work will directly support operational efficiency, environmental standards, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities- Safely operate HGV Class 2 vehicles (Skip & RoRo)
- Carry out waste collections and deliveries efficiently and professionally
- Plan and optimise routes to maximise productivity and minimise environmental impact
- Complete daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly
- Maintain accurate digital records using a tablet system
- Comply with road traffic laws, safety regulations, and environmental standards
- Deliver excellent customer service, leaving sites clean and tidy
- Report incidents, near misses, or safety concerns immediately
- Support recycling and waste diversion initiatives
- Work Monday to Friday with flexibility for Saturdays when required
- Valid UK HGV Class 2 (Category
C) licence - Driver CPC qualification
- Digital Tachograph Card
- Previous HGV driving experience (waste industry preferred)
- Good understanding of vehicle safety and compliance
- Physically fit for manual handling tasks
- Strong communication skills and a professional attitude
- Commitment to safety, teamwork, and sustainability
- £14.29 per hour
- Overtime paid at £17.86 per hour after 45 weekly hours
