Metroline Manchester is a recently formed subsidiary of Comfort Del Gro , in March 2024 we were awarded contracts to operate four franchises and join the Bee Network in Greater Manchester by Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA). Metroline was formed in 1989, fourth largest bus operator in London running about 17 percent of the city’s scheduled bus services and has been a part of the largest private land transport company Comfort Del Gro since 2000.

Here at Metroline we are 6,000 colleagues strong across the UK and help carry over one million of our customers every day, whilst Comfort Del Gro operates in 12 countries with a global fleet of over 40,000 vehicles and more than 22,000 colleagues.

As a Shunter/ Fueller you will be responsible for fuelling, parking and cleaning up our new fleet of state of the art buses. This is a great opportunity for someone to join a great working environment as part of the Engineering dream team and partnering with the wider team in the Wythenshawe depot.

• Responsible for ensuring all vehicles are fuelled and that engine oil levels are checked each evening
• Keep records of the amounts of fuel and oil issued to each bus
• Responsible for keeping the relevant work area clean and tidy and to clean up spillages in accordance with Metroline’s Health and Safety policy and procedure
• Responsible for washing exterior of all buses by use of automatic bus wash and to wash wheels and skirt panels by hand
• Responsible for shunting buses around in the garage and parking vehicles according to garage plan
• Sweeping and cleaning the interior of the buses
• Maintaining records and documents as required by Metroline Manchester
• To undertake daily checks on the condition of the mechanical equipment used
• Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of company vehicles to a high standard using mechanical, electrical and manual cleaning equipment. Externally this includes bodywork, wheels and windows etc. Internally this consists of ceiling panels, light units, windows, ledges, side panels, cushions and frames, floor, stairs, drivers cab etc
• Any other reasonable duties as directed by management that lies within the scope of the jobholder’s responsibilities

• Cleaning techniques including the safe use of mechanical and manual equipment
• An understanding of relevant safe working practices as required by COSHH regulations including the safe storage and disposal of highly corrosive and toxic materials
• An understanding of the standards required by Metroline Manchester

• The post holder should possess or be willing to obtain a suitable qualification (e.g. NVQ level
  1)
• A driving licence (preferably PCV) would be desirable
