Despatch Operative – Salford

This role is a key part of the production function, supporting an efficient and professional service to clients.

• Pack all final delivery goods with firm materials and the correct label with address and receiver.
• Use both SGK’s own system and various shipping company systems.
• Make decisions to despatch jobs using the most cost‑effective, reliable and efficient methods.
• Demonstrate good communication skills, commitment, enthusiasm and flexibility.
• Work quickly and accurately under pressure.
• Control cardboard and wood recycling in the yard.
• Maintain a clean and tidy working environment.
• Take in deliveries.
• Accept deliveries of various stock and put them away in the correct places.
• Use company vehicles to deliver or collect from local companies (dependent on a full UK driving licence).

• Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling.
• Work as part of a small team and also be self‑motivated to work alone.
• Good computer skills.
• Knowledge of DL or FLT licence advantageous but not essential; training will be provided.

During the initial training period the hours will be 10 am – 6 pm. After training, you will be expected to work alternate shifts: 6:30 am – 2:30 pm and a flexible shift depending on workload, typically finishing no later than 8 pm.
